Although I've been a member for many years and love all the seasons, The Portland Japanese Garden really struts it's stuff in the fall.
This visit was mid November, when some of the Japanese Maples were already bare for winter.
My favorite space is the Flat Garden.
This was my first time really looking closely at the castle wall, built by a 15th generation stone mason from Japan. It is dry-stacked (meaning no concrete or mortar) and the first of it's kind built outside of Japan. Incredible.
